Yes, the family have all been tested - apart from my sons daughter who is being tested when she is 18 this year. I emailed Exeter and they said they were only testing MODY 1,2 and 3 at this time.
My son has again been taken into hospital this time...
Do they think your son was the where the original mutation occurred? I know form speaking to the lab guy from Exeter that they have only found a couple in the 100's of different MODY families they have. Has the other family members been tested?
Hi Janelle,

Hi sofaraway,
Yes my son has cysts on his kidneys, nerve damage, eye problems digestive problems and has had a mini stroke. The Doctors all agree that all these conditions are due to the severity of Mody 5.
Since being diagnosed 5 years ago, his c...
Hi Janelle
I am sorry you have lost your husband to Mody 3. My son who is 43 has Mody 6 with various serious complications resulting in regular hospital admissions. He is on insulin which is not controlling his diabetes, can you let me know what c...
Hi Brenda, Jayme left me a message to try and hook up with you and see if we can compare notes. My daughter has tested positive for 3 and 5. But the doctor that Jayme and I both see is going to narrow that down for us. My husband has never been genetically tested...but he and our daughter are carbon copies of each other. My husband's family is loaded with MODY. My father-in-law has it, my husband, his one sister and one of our children. So tell me a bit about your family and who has it. Our daughter is 13 and was diagnosed when she was 10 1/2. She is treated with oral meds. So far, thank god, only our oldest daughter has it. We have 3 girls and one more on the way (june 26). Can't wait to hear from you. Welcome to the club! TTYL, Bridget
Brenda,
I looked in the forum under "census" and didn't see anyone listed under MODY 5..but there are only 3 of us listed. I do know that Bridgets family may be MODY 5, I am not sure...I will send her an email and tell her you are on here and see if she could pop on and hook up with you to compare notes. You may want to leave post in the forum explaining your situation and then maybe someone will be able to relate to you. I do know that there are people on here that do not know the type of MODY they have for sure. Hang in there I know it is rough when you feel you are alone! Even though we all have different MODY's...we are all still MODY family!! Feel free to come on here and vent, ask questions, just chat...we all know what it is to feel like no one else out there could possibly understand this!! How many of your family members have MODY?
