I have asked the question to a couple of Dr's, (the top MODY researchers) here if there is any damage caused to the kidneys by spilling glucose and the answer has been 'no'. But like you I am not completley convinced. What is your renal threshold?...

Do they think your son was the where the original mutation occurred? I know form speaking to the lab guy from Exeter that they have only found a couple in the 100's of different MODY families they have. Has the other family members been tested?

Insurance testing can be upwards of $3000 (and that is just the cap on what the insurance will charge a private party). My daughter is on 2 mg Amaryl a day now to try and regulate her sugars. She is horrible about testing so she doesn't have much ...
I really think it is a crime that the insurance won't pay for these tests given the other things they will pay for...but that is another issue!! Anyway, my dh was just at his check up with the MODY Endo..she is monitoring him close for the next mo...
